<h1 id=”watch-headline-title” style=”text-align: center;”>Louie Louie – The Kingsmen</h1>
&nbsp;
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi
Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>A fine girl, who waited for me.
I catch a ship across the sea.
I sailed the ship all alone.
I wondered when I’m gonna make it home.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.
Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi
Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Three nights and days I sailed the sea.
I think of the girl constantly.
On the ship, I dream she there.
I smell the rose that’s in her hair.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.
Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi
Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>I see Jamaican moon above.
See the girl I’m thinking of.
I take her in my arms and then
Say I’ll never leave again.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.
Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi
Louie Louie, oh baby, I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Oh, I gotta go now.
Uh-huh I gotta go.</p>
<p style=”text-align: center;”></p>
In February 1964, an outraged parent wrote to <a title=”Robert Kennedy” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kennedy”>Robert Kennedy</a>, then the <a title=”Attorney General of the United States” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attorney_General_of_the_United_States”>Attorney General of the United States</a>, alleging that the lyrics of “Louie Louie” were <a title=”Obscene” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obscene”>obscene</a&gt;. The <a title=”Federal Bureau of Investigation” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Bureau_of_Investigation”>Federal Bureau of Investigation</a> investigated the complaint. In June 1965, the FBI laboratory obtained a copy of the Kingsmen recording and, after four months of investigation, concluded that the recording could not be interpreted, that it was “unintelligible at any speed,”<sup id=”cite_ref-RocKwiz_44-0″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-RocKwiz-44″>%5B44%5D</a></sup> and therefore the Bureau could not find that the recording was obscene.<sup id=”cite_ref-TSG_2-2″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-TSG-2″>%5B2%5D</a></sup> In September 1965, an FBI agent interviewed one member of the Kingsmen, who denied that there was any obscenity in the song.<sup id=”cite_ref-TSG_2-3″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-TSG-2″>%5B2%5D</a></sup><sup id=”cite_ref-snopes_45-0″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-snopes-45″>%5B45%5D</a></sup&gt;

The lyrics controversy resurfaced briefly in 2005 when the superintendent of the school system in <a title=”Benton Harbor, Michigan” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benton_Harbor,_Michigan”>Benton Harbor, Michigan</a>, refused to let the marching band at one of the schools play the song in a parade. She later relented.<sup id=”cite_ref-46″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-46″>%5B46%5D</a></sup><sup id=”cite_ref-47″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-47″>%5B47%5D</a></sup&gt;

A history of the song and its notoriety was written by <a title=”Dave Marsh” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Marsh”>Dave Marsh</a>.<sup id=”cite_ref-MarshBook_48-0″><a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louie_Louie#cite_note-MarshBook-48″>%5B48%5D</a></sup&gt;
